Omitting Images of Prophet Muhammad - Is Yale helping extremists?

Yale press has decided to omit the cartoons of Prophet Muhammad from a book on the topic of controversial cartoons. This decision has been taken keeping in view the possible outcry from Muslims.

Jytte Klausen, who was intending to reproduce the cartoons in her book "Cartoons That Shook the World", which were first published in Danish newspapers in 2005, has confirmed this move. Yale has also omitted the images of Prophet Muhammad from the book. The author mentioned in her interview with The Guardian that she wanted to prove these cartoons Islamo-phobic.

The said cartoons proved to be a disaster in the Muslim countries around the world, killing more then 200 (The Washington Post). This in some cases also helped the extremists to publicize the hatred against Non-Muslims.

It is also a fact that some time after the publication of these cartoons in Danish newspapers, an Egyptian newspaper also published these cartoons to show how the Danish media is portraying the cartoons but at that time there was no outcry from the Muslim world.

Some time back a book on Aisha w/o Prophet Muhammad was also banned before it got published due to the protests from the Muslims. I wonder how can I know what is written in a book without even reading it. There is a similar case, when it comes to the Cartoons of Prophet Muhammad, Videos against Quran etc. I wonder how many of the protesters actually watched those.

I believe, the propaganda against anything is better dealt with after actually understanding the propaganda. If I do not know what was presented in the video Fitna how could I respond to it effectively. I also believe that (though sadly) Non-Muslims think more logically then Muslims, so providing them with the facts to satisfy them could lead them to change their opinions regarding Islam but sadly enough we the Muslims rely on Protests and killings to convince others of our love for peace.

Well, do you have anything to say on this topic? do you favor Yale? or would you call them Cowards on this move?
