Note: This article is the first episode of a three-episode series on ‘Anger’, and defines the ‘Anger’ and the need of ‘Anger Management’.
Remember that fleeting annoyance? that damn-pushing rage felt on anything, anyone? If yes, then you most likely are well acquainted with this evil thing named Anger.
Don’t you think that by calling it evil, I mean it is a bad thing; Anger is basically a sign of a lively and healthy life, it also reflects that your brain is quite capable to observe and react. This completely normal emotion drives you to take steps in a certain direction.
You must have experienced the wish to do what someone did so well. When you aim to make progress after watching someone doing it, you think you are following that person because you are impressed with him or her; wrong! You want to do that because you are angry in your heart, you want to surpass them and this is a derivative of the emotion called anger.
So if it drives you to achieve better results, why is it considered bad?
Well, it is not bad as long as it is hidden and under your control, things get really ugly when it starts controlling you. You start getting angry on very small matters and it affects your work, your life, and your relations and ruins everything, which comes in the way. The worst thing with getting angry is that you are in an unpredictable state and are shaking like a boat in a drowning sea.
Every emotion has its very own psychological and physical effects and anger is no exception. When you get angry, expect you heart rate and Blood pressure to skyrocket, while it shakes up and down many of your hormones. You also get prone to the attack of tension and depression, which could take out your sleep so easily, not to mention the severe headache caused by the intense anger.
Your social life is the most affected victim of anger, remember, you are potentially risking your relations and connections by not managing your anger.
Emotions need an event to start flowing and so does anger; this event could be anything ranging from an accidental push, a mistake, a traffic jam, delay in meeting, some colleague, your very personal problem, or a sudden attack of a bitter past memory. Sometimes you feel angry and you just do not understand the reason, in this scenario your mental turmoil, could cause this feeling to go up.
And yeah you can also blame your forefathers for your anger because a scientific study revealed that if you often get angry then you might have grabbed it from your parents or grandparents.
As I mentioned earlier, that anger is good for you if under your control; but once it starts controlling you the things start getting really ugly. You cannot deny that you have no authority to tear down every person or thing that stirs anger in you; you ultimately have to consider the law and social ties before taking any action, but anger is the catalyst, which forbids you to think before doing. If you find yourself repenting what you did in anger, then believe me you are in dire need to consider Anger Management.
What is the anger Management? To understand this you should understand the fact that Anger is not bad and you cannot stop getting irritated from the people or things. Remember you will keep getting angry but you must manage your anger in the best possible way.
You need Anger management because it is the only way to reduce the turmoil caused to your feelings and body by anger. The goal of anger management is not to eliminate the anger because you simply cannot; the aim is to control your reactions.
Some self-proclaimed experts also suggest that you should not control your anger and let it loose, but doing so only complicates things and does no good to you or to the person/object, you charge at but yeah it does help to worsen your social life.
Often angry people know about their anger but if by any chance, you are unaware of this sweet habit of yours and you find yourself reacting to certain people or events in an odd fashion, then you might need these psychological tests to understand the intensity of your anger. I plan to write about these tests in a separate post, so I leave it for later.
I would love to hear your thoughts about anger, just throw your comments in and don’t forget to share this with your friends [specially the angry ones ;)].

Yale press has decided to omit the cartoons of Prophet Muhammad from a book on the topic of controversial cartoons. This decision has been taken keeping in view the possible outcry from Muslims.
Jytte Klausen, who was intending to reproduce the cartoons in her book "Cartoons That Shook the World", which were first published in Danish newspapers in 2005, has confirmed this move. Yale has also omitted the images of Prophet Muhammad from the book. The author mentioned in her interview with The Guardian that she wanted to prove these cartoons Islamo-phobic.
The said cartoons proved to be a disaster in the Muslim countries around the world, killing more then 200 (The Washington Post). This in some cases also helped the extremists to publicize the hatred against Non-Muslims.
It is also a fact that some time after the publication of these cartoons in Danish newspapers, an Egyptian newspaper also published these cartoons to show how the Danish media is portraying the cartoons but at that time there was no outcry from the Muslim world.
Some time back a book on Aisha w/o Prophet Muhammad was also banned before it got published due to the protests from the Muslims. I wonder how can I know what is written in a book without even reading it. There is a similar case, when it comes to the Cartoons of Prophet Muhammad, Videos against Quran etc. I wonder how many of the protesters actually watched those.
I believe, the propaganda against anything is better dealt with after actually understanding the propaganda. If I do not know what was presented in the video Fitna how could I respond to it effectively. I also believe that (though sadly) Non-Muslims think more logically then Muslims, so providing them with the facts to satisfy them could lead them to change their opinions regarding Islam but sadly enough we the Muslims rely on Protests and killings to convince others of our love for peace.
Well, do you have anything to say on this topic? do you favor Yale? or would you call them Cowards on this move?

Despite strenuous entreaties by top U.S. officials, Pakistan has abandoned plans to mount a
military offensive against the terrorist group responsible for a two-year campaign of suicide bombings across the country. Although the Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), has been in disarray since an Aug. 5 missile strike from a CIA-operated drone killed its leader, Baitullah Mehsud, the Pakistani military has concluded that a ground attack on its strongholds in South Waziristan would be too difficult.
The Pakistani military have choked off main roads leading out of South Waziristan, and the country's fighter jets have been pounding targets from the air (an operation Islamabad insists it will continue). But that falls short of the military campaign the U.S. desires. Instead, Pakistani authorities are hoping to exploit divisions within the TTP to prize away some factions, while counting on the CIA's drones to take out Baitullah's successors. (See pictures of refugees fleeing the fighting in Pakistan's Swat Valley.)
U.S. counterterrorism officials worry that a failure to capitalize on the post-Baitullah confusion within the TTP will allow its new leader, Hakimullah Mehsud, to consolidate his position and reorganize the organization….Read Full story on Time

Lahore, Pakistan - Pakistan said on Friday that it hoped to get $18 million (R140 million) in compensation for losing its share of World Cup 2011 matches over security fears.
The International Cricket Council (ICC) announced on thursday the World Cup matches dispute with Pakistan was resolved after its President David Morgan and Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Ijaz Butt met in Dubai.
Butt said Pakistan expected to get $18 million in all.
"Apart from our hosting rights fee of $10.5 million we expect to get some additional amount in compensation which, after calculation, will come to $18 million," Butt told a press conference on his return from Dubai.
In April 2009 the ICC was forced to relocate Pakistan's share of 14 matches because of security fears after attacks in its eastern city of Lahore on the Sri Lankan team on March 3.
The attacks injured seven players and their assistant coach and killed eight people.
The PCB served a legal notice on the ICC, saying the relocation was unjust, but after Thursday's agreement they have withdrawn the legal case.
The Central Organising Committee of the World Cup 2011 in July awarded eight of Pakistan's matches to India, four to Sri Lanka and two to Bangladesh.
Besides World Cup matches, the Champions trophy 2008 was also moved out to South Africa after several teams refused to tour Pakistan over security fears.
Butt said the solution was the best possible under the circumstances.
"We feel that this was the best possible solution and we will get additional amount and would not be forced to beg around for money to keep our cricket on track," said Butt, whose organisation is strapped for cash with no international cricket at home.
Pakistan incurred financial losses to the tune of $30 million (R233 million) after India refused to send its team to Pakistan for a series in January-February 2009.
India's refusal came in the wake of the 2008 attacks on its commercial hub Mumbai, which New Delhi blamed on militants based in Pakistan.
Butt accused India of vetoing Pakistan's request of hosting its World Cup matches on neutral venues, notably in the United Arab Emirates where Pakistan have recently played after teams refused to tour.
"Morgan and incoming ICC President Sharad Pawar had no problems in Pakistan hosting their matches at neutral venues but the Indian Board refused to accept that," he said.
"England hosted some of the matches in Ireland and Scotland during the 1999 World Cup and when the World Cup was held in South Africa in 2003 some of the matches were held in Zimbabwe and Kenya. It could have happened again." – AFP

Al-Qaeda's number two Ayman Zawahiri has called on Pakistanis to support jihadists in the country's tribal areas, saying it was "the" battle against the American "crusaders," said the US-based SITE Intelligence group.
Zawahiri's comments were delivered in a video called "Path of Doom" posted on jihadist websites and monitored by SITE, a private group that follows jihadist activities on the Internet.
"The war in the tribal areas and Swat is an inseparable part of the Crusaders' assault on the Muslims the length and breadth of the Islamic world," Zawahiri was quoted as saying…..Read Full Story on The RAW Story
